Traditionally February is a quiet month on the carp fishing scene however here things have been frantic!!

Lac de Villedon

Following complete draindown in December the successful removal of all poisson chat, this year is set to be the venues best year yet!!
Eddie Sterk test fished the venue in the last 2 weeks to check progress of the fish for the owner Paul. Eddie had over 25 fish in his short session and the fish look in pristine condition, Eddie caught many fish in excess of 45lbs, pictures of these remarkable fish are shown on our Facebook pages.

With many high profile guests set to return this year to this fantastic mighty venue to catch some of Frances finest fish, this year looks to be really exciting.

The Secret Garden

Without doubt this is one of the most stunning picturesque fishing venues in France offering unique trips on an exclusive basis.

Over at The Secret Garden things have been equally busy. This year we have drained the lake and treated with lime to combat areas of silt, the lilly pads have been slightly thinned to create additional clear spots to fish to and place baits easily. Two weeks with a digger every day has resulted in a new sandy bank being created on the far bank, beautiful clean snag free areas to fish, in addition we have been able to increase the level on the lake to enhance oxygen levels and dig deeper areas in front of swims to ensure maximum fish care when netting and returning fish.

The icing on the cake at the venue was yesterday 20.02.16 when 32 pristine young fish were added to 40lbs, fish farmed and never been caught these fish will thrive in their new environment. Full pictures and video footage of their netting can be seen on Facebook.

Etang de Brigueuil

One of Frances most beautiful venues continues to grow in popularity. We have only a few weeeks still remaining for 2016 on swim 12 which is the double with chalet but do still have some other availability around the lake on standard swims. In early April we are delighted to welcome Steve Briggs and Joan to record a feature for various top angling publications.

The lake boasts over 600 beautiful mirrors and commons that are growing really quickly. The lake record ( held by my good self in January this year) is just shy of 60lbs but we expect many fish to surpass this is 2016.

It just remains for myself and Carmen to wish you all every success and enjoyment in the 2016 season and we very much look forward to being of service to you

Lac de Villedon - An Challenging Adventure!

All the very best big fish venues in France present challenges, at Chantecoq it's the mud, at Cassien sometimes the summer traffic of holidaymakers, boats and swimmers and at Rainbow you must adapt your approach to catch some of the very best fish in the world.

As Villedon is now recognised as a target venue for the UK angler it too presents it's challenges but also outstanding rewards.

Here are the Villedon stats for w/c 27 August 2016:

22lbs to 33lbs 32 fish
33lbs to 45lbs 79 fish
45lbs to 56lbs 12 fish
56lbs plus 1 fish

The venue currently has some activity from poisson chat, but for the thinking angler this is easily overcome by the use of tiger nuts, masking boilies with plastic wrap and decoy bating strategies ie the use of particles presented in areas off the main swim. We currently have a UK lake exclsuive group on the venue and those employing these strategies are reaping the rewards. In the words of Terry Sanders a recent customer to swim 15, Villedon is an adventure, yes, the poisson can be active in some swims but so currently are the venues 1200 fish. Testiment to this was his 65 fish catch along with two friends Hayden Roberts and Gary Roach. Terry has already booked his return trip in 2017.

Terry Wheatley as recently detailed on Steve Briggs Facebook page together with Paul Sharman managed 45 fish from swim 20 during a hectic week full details reported in this weeks CarpTalk and again Terry has already re booked for his next Villedon adventure.

Meanwhile Paul Henson on his 3rd return trip to Villedon fishing from swim 1 (the villa,) and electing to fish days only with just 2 rods managed 56 fish, 7 over 40lbs, the largest 48lb 10 all fish were reported to be in stunning condition.

At the other end of the lake Clint fished swim 17 and at 1.30am in the morning was rewarded with a beautiful 52lb deep bodied mirror double tiger nuts being the successful method over a bed of hemp and maize.

Villedon is a mighty water of nearly 100 acres and not for the faint hearted however for those stepping up to the challenge it offers 1200 of the finest quality fish in France with mirrors and commons in excess of 70lbs, anglers with a considered approach regularly report catches of 50 plus fish per week. This together with it's excellent facilities ie restaurant, shop and choice of lakeside accommodation make it a comfortable proposition for the UK angler together with the feel of a big water adventure.

With the weather due to change this afternoon and temperatures dropping and strong winds and rain, the big fish at Villedon will become very active please watch our Facebook for updates as we receive them.

A distinct changing of the seasons as temperatures drop and the green foliage of summer turns autumn gold.

The Mighty Villedon

Despite its low water levels Villedon has fished well in the latest few weeks.
Shaun Jones visited swim 21 Briggsys Cabin with his wife Emma for a 17 fish catch including a new PB for Emma at 51lbs. Shaun has kindly written an article (shown below) on his individual approach to tackling Villedon.

The lake has been visited by mainly UK anglers in the last few weeks many of which have already chosen to secure dates for the coming years, it really pays now if you have specific swims and dates in mind to contact Carmen and book your trip. Please guys check you can get the time off work before you reserve swims and weeks, we are busy on this water and swims cant be reserved or penciled in.

In December we will drain the venue and remove smaller carp and once again poisson chat.
The venues future gameplan will include the addition of a small range of specifically chosen predators to control any unwanted or remaining poisson chat after drain down. In addition there will be a number of new and exciting changes taking place at the venue together with the introduction of some new regulations guaranteed to ensure the future development of the fishery and its stunning stocks.
These rule changes will include the exclusion of the use of particles (boilies and pellets only) and will be implemented from the beginning of the 2017 season.

The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden is in its last two weeks of the season. We specifically limit the weeks of opening in order to give the fish a prolonged closed season and rest period.
This year the venue has really been recognised as THE premier venue for a family carp fishing holiday. We have introduced a swimming pool, mountain bikes and during this closed season we will be adding a further 50 new fish to the existing stocks.

Armfield Angling and the owner Jean-Noel have further plans to improve this special venue by the removal of many of the lakes lilly pads and the addition of a new platform swim at the shallow end of the lake.

Im afraid if its school summer holidays 2017 you are looking for the venue is now full as are all the half term breaks. There are however a few other weeks available during the year and we are now taking bookings for 2018.
During the 2017 season we will welcome Steve Briggs back for his 3rd visit to the venue and also Bev Clifford of CarpTalk in June.

Brigueuil

The beautiful Brigueuil has received its justified acclaim this year from the UK angler, testament to the quality of the venue and its fish is the fact that 90% of our UK guests have already re-booked.
Neville Horsefield a regular Armfield Angling client visited the venue in the last few weeks fishing from the fabulous chalet swim (swim 12) Neville managed mirror carp to 49lbs and commons to just over the magical 50lb mark. A very special venue with a very warm welcome from its caring hosts, and a great head of pristine 40lb and 50lb fish topped by the amazing Frankie (the common) that fluctuates between high 50's to exceeding the 60lb mark

Armfield Angling Bait Range

We are delighted to announce we are launching a fabulous new bait range in collaboration with UK manufacturer Total Baits. The Cream Opal range has been developed for use on all our venues and comprises 14mm and 18mm boilies, pop ups, dumb bells, glugs, pellets, ground baits, stick mixes and washed out pop ups. This goes live on the Armfield Angling website next week and will be shipped to UK addresses in Armfield own brand packaging within 2 to 3 days of ordering and payment by yourselves to us. The start of another exciting season is nearly upon us. Having endured frozen lakes and minus temperatures, the first signs of early spring are beginning to show.

Lac de Villedon

Massive works have now been fully completed at the venue. Having undergone a full drain down and all poisson chat and fish under 20lb being removed this is set to be a fantastic year at the venue. In order to fully appreciate the fishery management programme, videos are now available on the Armfield Angling website www.armfieldangling.com under the Lac de Villedon fish stocks tab. The carp industry grapevine has already beaten on the work undertaken. We are now full this April on every swim, every week and if you would like to experience catching some of France's finest fish it is prudent to make any September and October bookings especially this week as swims are becoming very limited already. Please also remember no particles this year - just boilies and pellets.

The Secret Garden

No sooner had work finished on Villedon, Carmen and I were off again to The Secret Garden. Again a full drain down has taken place, the lillies removed in large areas and a very comfortable swim created at the entrance to the shallows. In addition, all small carp have been removed and 50 spectacular new fish added including some fabulous linears, fully scaled and incredibly large scaled big framed mirrors. A drone video has been prepared of the venue as it refills to its capacity and is on our Facebook page. It shows just why this is such a popular and exclusive fishing retreat.

We have been very sorry to disappoint over 80 enquirers all looking for trips in 2017 season as our 28 weeks per season are now fully booked. In only a few weeks we welcome back Steve Briggs and Joan to one of their favourite venues. Steve returns so fish the beautiful chalet swim 12 and we will be producing video and articles for the leading carp angling publications.

The fish over the last 12 months have achieved remarkable growth so we have many new 50's this year (and one or two even bigger!!!).

    If you want a family holiday with one or two of you fishing, with some local site seeing / touring thrown in, this is the perfect venue.
    There aren't many venues in France that combine the estate lake feel of this place with a great house to stay in. It is, quite simply, superb. I can't wait to go back.
