Welcome to a busy start to the season on behalf of Armfield Angling. We have been delighted to introduce many of our long established customers to our portfolio of venues:

Lac de Villedon

The fish at Villedon stayed closely grouped together at the deeper end of the lake during early April. Anglers in swims 1,21,3 and 4 reported huge hits including Dutch anglers in swim 4 that managed over 174 fish the largest being in excess of 60lbs.

During April Rob Hales introduced his son Harry on his first trip to Villedon, what followed was an amazing first 24 hours when Harry banked a brace at 60 plus mirrors. Well done Harry! The father and son team caught steadily during the week from swim 3. A full video of Harry's 'Amazing Brace' is published on our You Tube, Facebook and website and also a catch report and write-up appears in this weeks CarpTalk.

Rob returns in September to celebrate his 50th birthday at the venue together with Steve Briggs, Simon Crow, Chris Tarrant, Des Taylor and members of the Avid Squad. I think we can guarantee some amazing video footage from the week and the venues reputation will increase further as one of Frances best venues. Temperatures have soared during the last 7 days and the fish are now starting to spread out and feed in smaller groups, the venue has reported 12 fish in excess of 55lbs the largest being 62.2 lbs last week.

We still have some availability for this year to give you chance to catch one of the biggest and best fish France has to offer. BOOK NOW for 2016 as this venue becomes more popular to the UK angler to ensure to bag your chosen swim and dates.

Le Bois De L'Etang

We were extremely excited to open the gates at LE BOIS DE L'ETANG during the first week of April.

The Porteus brothers were the first people to book this beautiful venue and accommodation on an exclusive basis. As we had hoped our first customers were overwelmed with the standard of accommodation, quality of the lake, swims and its private surroundings not to mention the warm welcome from the venue owner. During the week the brothers enjoyed sampling some of the pristine fish with most action coming in the evenings and early mornings. Total fish for the week was 9 fish to in excess of 41 lbs, pictures will be uploaded as we receive them early next week. We have other UK anglers starting to arrive on the venue in the next few weeks, this really is the very best in tranquil idyllic retreats, please contact us on info@armfieldangling.com to SECURE your 2015/2016 dates.

Etang de Brigueuil

Our newest venue Etang de Brigueuil has reported fast and furious action as temperatures warmed up. The fish have moved into shallower water with swim 11 reporting fish to in excess of 50.13 lbs. We have availability this year although the beautiful chalet swim has now been fully booked. We have opened bookings for 2016.

Please take a look at our Facebook and You Tube channels to see new pics and slide shows added today. This really is a lovely venue with charming English owners waiting to welcome you.

We look forward to heaing from you.

Lac de Villedon

How many waters can boast 71 fish over 45lb, 15 over 56lb and 2 over 66lb's in a week?! and, all in pristine condition.

As UK anglers make their way to the incredible Lac de Villedon the true quality of this outstanding venue develops its reputation as one of the very best big fish waters in France.

We were delighted to welcome our consultant Ian Smith to the venue in April along with his good friend Andrew Harrop. Ian was in swim 1 (villa) and visiting the venue for the first time to commence his Lac de Villedon Armfield Angling consultancy which is now live on our web site under the 'ask smithy' tab.

It was action for the pair from the off as the fish arrived in numbers in the Villedon bay an incredible big fish area that is fished from swim 1 (Villa) and Briggsy's cabin (swim 21).

The pair saw hectic action with double and treble takes at times. Andy managed his new PB a stunning mirror of 62lbs only to beat it again with a 64lb mirror. Ian and Andy continued to pile in their selection of 'Mad Baits' and on one occasion Andy had a take while Ian was baiting the swim from the boat which shows how little boats effect the venue.

The pair ended with 34 fish all in pristine condition, Ians best being a mirror of 54.4lb. There are some great pics and video footage taken by Ian on the Armfield Angling FaceBook page.

Colin Stephens and his party arrived the following week and were immediately impressed with the warm welcome and fabulous facilities at the venue, shortly into the trip Colin had a take in swim 9 and as an experienced angler was aware straight away he had hooked something very special in the early hours of the morning. The torch shining on the spreader block highlighted a huge common rolling into Colins net. As the guys struggled to lift their prize onto the continental sized unhooking mat they both became aware this fish was huge, bottoming Colin's scales at 68lb's Colin decided in the interests of the fish to return her immediately after the photographs which can be seen on Facebook. While it would be nice to know the exact weight at the time of capture by Colin, he took responsible action in the interest of this amazing fish. The fish has hence been named 'Mystery' although she was caught again yesterday at 69.10lb, was she 70lb when Colin caught her? It will remain a mystery...........

In the following week we welcomed 16 new anglers to Villedon a week i had also chosen to fish. During the week Keith and i on swim 15 had 8 fish in difficult rainy conditions, both of us managing fish in excess of 50lbs and in fact every UK party managed 50lb plus fish in their groups which included a 54lb for Phill Hill a new PB, another member of Phills group having a 60lb plus fish from swim 18. Over on swim 6 Martyn Hughes netted the most beautiful 50.04lb common a new PB for him, well done Martyn. We very much enjoyed watching Shaun Jones and Chris Hinton catch 2 x 50lbs, some of the most methodical anglers i have seen and great company.

Most anglers leaving the venue have already re-booked for the following years, testament to the fish, the venue and its accommodating staff.

One small addition to the rules at Villedon an antiseptic dip tank will be provided at the Cabin (21), Villa (1) and the boat jetty please dip ALL landing nets and slings and note that NO SACKS ARE PERMITTED AT THE VENUE.

Le Bois de L'etang

The beautiful Le Bois welcomed Paul Miller and his fishing partner Lee last week, fishing from close to the house Paul and Lee managed 21 stunning fish, 2 x 40lb's, 4 x 30lb's and 15 high 20lb's. The pair had a great week commenting "Stunning place, amazing fishing, the house is 5 star".

As Le Bois gains in popularity we have introduced a new payment scheme to help plan future trips, please see the post on Facebook. They are also offering a fly and tackle hire package, please also see Facebook for the information and prices.
The Le Bois common has already graced the net in the last few weeks in fabulous condition at 60.02lbs she has taken on a stunning new bronze colour since being stocked in January 2015. We are offering a prize of 1 weeks fishing (travel and bait seperate and chargeable on arrival) for the first UK angler to catch this amazing fish, we are delighted to welcome Steve and Joan Briggs in August this year who have chosen the venue for its peace and tranquility, stunning fish and luxurious accommodation.

Etang de Brigueuil

Our new venue, has created great interest in the UK. This really is a lovely venue with easy fishing in beautiful surrounding with charming UK owner hosts.

The fish are yet to spawn at the venue, the water is currently 17 degrees and large catches are being made in particular at the shallow end of the lake. With 11 anglers spread around the lake last week it produced 88 fish to in excess of 54lbs. Swim 11 being the star performer with 38 fish, 5 over 40lb including some stunning commons.

The chalet (swim 12) in particular is a fabulous option and it is advisable to book early for 2016 to experience the fabulous accommodation and private double swim.

With the season in full swing our Facebook page will receive daily updates. Carmen and I are just off to practice for our sponsored walk to raise funds for Carping for Causes in aid of Birminghams Childrens Hospital which takes place on 7th June. You can help us via the link on our Facebookpage (www.justgiving.com/carpingforcauses). Please mention Armfield Angling in your donation to enable us reconcile a final total.

Tight Lines, thank you all for your continued support.

Lac De Villedon

Lac de Villedon is in full swing and the fish have completely finished all spawning activity.

We are delighted Robert Hales has chosen to celebrate his 50th birthday at the venue in September this year. Rob has taken 18 swims and his guests include Chris Tarrant, Steve Briggs, Simon Crow, Des Taylor and Jon Shoes plus myself amongst other valued friends. During the week the action will be captured live for a video which will feature on our website www.armfieldangling.com, our Facebook page and also on Youtube.

The venue continues to invest in improvements and currently they are adding an open air terrace with lounge seating outside of the restaurant for dining and refreshments, it over looks the fabulous koi pool. Guests can enjoy a cold beer on arrival and relax before dining in the 5 star restaurant. Please remember camping on the Friday before your trip begins is also available (by prior appointment) which is the perfect way to unwind from your journey and be ready to start your fishing refreshed on the Saturday morning.

Many UK visitors in recent weeks including Shimanonormark UK have made the journey to Villedon and most have either re-booked already or are in the process of organising dates with their respective groups/friends to book again for 2016/2017.

Please remember to send us reports and pictures of your catches to Carmen. We are currently compiling an album which will feature on Youtube and on our web site and Facebook pages so our existing guests and those yet to visit can see the facilities, fish and fishing reports from different swims in different months of the year.

There is now limited availability for 2015 but have a wider choice of dates left for 2016 and 2017. The lake exclusive option at Villedon is proving to be a popular option offering fishing and exclusive use of the lake and accommodation (the outstanding villa on swim 1 and the cabin on swim 21) for a maximum of 35 anglers, of course you can have smaller groups if you wish and boats (no engines) are included as well as mats. The food package offers 7 meals per angler (one each evening), 5 of which are delivered to your swims and 2 to be taken in the restaurant. Please email Carmen on info@armfieldangling.com for remaining full week availability and price.

The mystery common has put in another appearance although the question of its exact weight on its previous capture still remains unanswered as this time she bottomed the scales at 69.10oz. It really does pay to take big scales to Villedon!!

Le Bois de l'etang

As our consultant Ian Smith prepares to visit the venue we are organising Ian to shoot footage of live catch action along with video of this truly beautiful venue. Shortly after Ians visit Steve and Joan Briggs will visit for a week and we are sure they will add to the venues stunning fish gallery of catches.

Le Bois really is the most beautiful tranquil escape, newly furnished and overlooking the privacy of your own lake you and friends can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and sample its pristine fish to in excess of 60lbs.

Le Bois is offered on an exclusive basis only and weeks are limited for 2015. Bookings are being taken for 2016. Please enquire with Carmen on info@armfieldanging.com to secure your dates.

Etang de Brigueuil

Brigueuil continues to fish well after spawning. 7 anglers landing 52 fish using a combination of tiger nuts and boilies which are currently proving successful.

The beautiful chalet as usual fished incredibly well with 15 fish to 43lbs. We currently have only 1 weeks still remaining for the chalet this year. Please book now for next year for this particular swim with its outstanding accommodation and privacy.

Thank you to everyone that supported us on our charity walk on 7th June and donated towards Carping for Causes who support Birmingham Childrens Hospital. It was a pleasure to be involved with them and help towards these worthwhile causes.

Lac de Villedon

Carmen and I regularly receive enquiries with reference to tackle techniques and bait recommendations at Lac de Villedon. We thought it may be useful to newsletter a few F.A.Q's

Type and Quality of Bait

In my experience Mailine Baits have always worked well at the venue, in particular Cell and Hybrid, generally 20 kilos is enough for a weeks stay. Regarding particles, pellet, hemp and any shop bought ready professionally manufactured and ready packed jars are permitted

Hookbaits

Generally 15mm or smaller and in particular balanced baits work extremely well, sitting on the lake beds light covering of silt

Terminal Tackle

Most rigs work well and don't need to be complicated. Please remember tubing only NO leadcore or braided leaders. Hooksize, 6's and 8's work well

There will be a lot of press in the magazines in the coming month as Rob Hales celebrates his 50th birthday at Lac de Villedon along with Steve Briggs, Chris Tarrant, members of the Avid team and other close friends and angling celebrities. There will be live video footage from the week that will be posted to our website and Facebook and YouTube pages

Please remember Lac de Villedon is becoming a very popular venue and its reputation will be furthermore enhanced in the next months.

For 2015 remaining, 2016 and 2017 please contact Carmen info@armfieldangling.com.

Le Bois de l'etang now has a new name!!!

Steve and Joan Briggs have arrived yesterday at the venue. Both Steve and Joan were amazed at the quality of both the accommodation and natural beauty of the lily lined lake. Both commented the venue is like a 'Secret Garden' so that's what we have decided to name it.

As of Monday 10th August the name at the venue will appear as 'The Secret Garden' on our website, Facebook and Magazine features.

This venue really does afford the ultimate in comfort and privacy. The house is fully equipt with a range style gas cooker, microwave, ample fridges and freezers and washing machine, tackle room with English charging points not to mention the stunning air conditioned conservatory overlooking your own private swim with optional sun loungers and barbeque! We are also waiting the delivery of the venues swimming pool in the coming weeks.

All in all the perfect venue with fish in excess of 60lbs for a few friends or a family retreat. A competition will also appear in the coming weeks with a chance to win a week at this stunning venue.

Etang de Brigueuil

The beautiful Brigueuil nestles in the Charantes countryside and the jewel in its crown is its spectacular chalet (swim 12), a panoramic lawned area with commanding views over the lake.

The chalet is fully equipped with a well appointed kitchen including washing machine, Freeview TV, a charming lounge seating area with doors opening onto the lakeside terrace. The 2 bedrooms sleep 2 people per room (one with double bed and the other with 2 x singles) enabling a further 2 people to bivvy up on the accompanying double swim on the lawn in front of the chalet.

If you choose to maximise on the accommodation and swim facilities of the chalet this option accommodates 4 non anglers and 2 anglers (in bivvies) for just £800.00 per week. Fabulous value at a venue with charming English hosts. Full internal chalet pictures and lake views can be seen on our website www.armfieldangling.com under the Etang de Brigueuil tab.
